Bio

Curize Richards has earnestly maneuvered through the media industry. Rising from promotions intern to Marketing Executive, she most recently held the position of Head of Ad Sales Enablement & Marketing at a leading media tech company, and previously held the role of Vice President of Creative Strategy & Marketing at one of the country’s largest media companies. Her expertise is in creative strategy, ad sales marketing and brand partnerships, with the goal of driving creative innovation and revenue growth.


Starting her career in New York City radio, Richards climbed up the ranks at globally-recognized radio brands HOT97-FM & 107.5 WBLS-FM,  where she held several roles in promotions and marketing. Her love of music–specifically Hip-Hop–is what drove her to start her career radio. Since then, she has spent nearly 20 years in the radio industry, having her achievements recognized twice with features in Radio Ink Magazine as one of Radio’s Future Black Leaders.

Richards’s passion for media began in her early twenties, when she founded and ran a digital lifestyle magazine targeting young Black Women. The development of the digital start-up forced Richards to learn media advertising and marketing, an area she has since proven to be her professional prowess.

 

Richards continually lends her expertise to entertainment and media companies. She's consulted for brands such as Roc Nation indie label imprint Warehouse Music Group, serving as strategist to CEO Malik "Memphis Bleek" Cox. She also held the interim role of Fractional Chief Marketing Officer for rising podcast start-up ABF Creative.

Richards is also a college professor. As a Professional Development instructor,  she focuses on Career Development, a course she designed with underrepresented professionals in mind. Her teaching experience inspired Richards to develop Corporate Come-Up, a workshop dedicated to educating young Black Professionals on the ins-and-outs of navigating Corporate America. Her mission to be a resource for Black Professionals through Corporate Come-Up has caught the attention of organizations and brands that have tapped her as an expert speaker for events and seminars targeting multicultural audiences.


Richards is active in the advocacy, investment and development of Black media, arts and stories. She’s participated-in and contributed to the production of several panels, participated in documentaries and most recently, added the title of arts investor to her portfolio by angel investing in the 2024 revival of Broadway musical The Wiz.

Richards holds a Master of Science Degree in Interactive Communications from Quinnipiac University and a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Marketing from Berkeley College – graduating with Magna Cum Lude Honors in both degrees.

 

In addition to her professional and academic achievements and passion projects, Richards has overcome one of life’s hardest journeys–cancer. As a leukemia survivor and bone marrow recipient, she is an avid supporter of cancer non-profits. She is passionate about fundraising for organizations dedicated to the fight against blood cancers and raising awareness of bone marrow donation.
